Take a trip to the European-style Sway Café on 34th Avenue…no passport required! You can’t miss Sway Café with its aqua colored façade and menus to match. With locally sourced ingredients to make their fabulous sandwiches, crepes, and custom-ground coffee drinks, you’ll make Sway Café a regular part of your day.

Sway Café opened in October 2020 by partners and friends Aung Myat and Shawn Tiwari, who built much of the rustic furnishings inside this beautiful café. These partners have been coffee afficionados for over 10 years, honing their craft at home, then absorbing the different flavors of coffee all over the world. Both Shawn and Aung work for Delta Airlines in technical operations which has allowed them to see the world and bring the best of it to Astoria. Their passion for coffee shows in every steaming hot cup or cool refreshing iced coffee, made with their own blend of “Lacas” coffee roasted locally every two days to ensure optimum freshness and maintain quality. Pretty little aqua colored coffee cups are filled with your favorite cappuccino, espresso, cortado, macchiato, or ristretto, steamed up by friendly barista Johnathan.



Stop in for breakfast, order an egg, and cheese croissant, ham and cheese croissant or delightful avocado toast. There are fresh croissants each day, perfect for dunking into your coffee, or grab a muffin and coffee to go. Matcha latte, chai latte, and a variety of teas are served swiftly, to go or to stay and sip at one of the many bistro tables in- side and outside. Free Wifi helps you stay connected too.

Sway Café has a menu of delicious hand- crafted sandwiches, made on the spot with local meats and cheeses from a nearby purveyor. Sandwiches are built on chewy ciabatta bread, country white, or croissant, also baked locally, then layered with fresh ingredients and toasted to melted perfection. The “Balkan” is composed of prosciutto, Balkan cheese, and roasted red pepper spread for a hearty lunch ($8.50). My “Parma” had finely sliced prosciutto, a spread of fragrant pesto, Parmigiano, tomato, and arugula for a burst of flavors and textures ($9.50). The “Country” sandwich has smoked beef, cheese spread and crunchy pickles that requires two hands and a good appetite. Vegetarian options include the “Veggie” with pesto, tomatoes, arugula, and melted Brie and the “Orchard” with goat cheese, apple slices, walnuts, arugula, and a drizzle of olive oil ($9). Sway Café’s sandwiches are all cleverly presented on a wooden board with a cute little bucket of crunchy potato chips, making for a perfect lunch.

Do as the Parisiennes do and have a crepe for lunch or anytime snack, made by Chef Tariq in his Moroccan-French style. Both sweet and savory crepes are on the menu such as the “Miss Piggy” folded with sliced pork loin and provolone cheese for gooey goodness. “Mamma Mia” has thin prosciutto, provolone cheese and tomato for a light, satisfying meal ($10). The “Florentine” is a vegetarian option filled with ricotta cheese, scallions, pesto, spinach, and Parmigiano. Sweet crepes include the classic lemon, butter and sugar, or their very popular “Fruit Fantasy” with Nutella, bananas and strawberries. The “Elvis” is folded with peanut butter, banana, and gooey caramel, while we shared the “Raffaello” with Euro cream, hazel- nuts and shredded coconut. A mixed berry crepe has a dollop of whipped cream over the blend of sweet strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries for the ultimate summer treat.

Stroll on over to Sway Café, open seven days a week from 8am to 8pm for breakfast, lunch, light supper, crepes, snacks, and custom blended COFFEE that is out of this world.
