On Thursday, June 23rd the Steinway Astoria Partnership held its annual meeting.
The well-attended event was hosted virtually via Zoom and provided a welcoming atmosphere for all in attendance.
The meeting opened with Tony Barsamian, Chairman of the BID, who thanked everyone for attending and introduced Kevin Foley, the President of the Steinway Astoria Partnership. Foley welcomed participants to the meeting, expressed optimism about the upcoming year and thanked everyone for their support, especially Marie Torniali for her leadership and tenacity as Executive Director of the Partnership, as well as the BID office support team. He also thanked the board members, elected officials and agencies.
Foley announced that he and Torniali are scheduled to meet with DOT in the coming weeks regarding possible streetscape projects to enhance the district. He added that a potential exciting BID mural project is also in the works and more information will be forthcoming.
Foley then turned things back over to Barsamian, who presented the annual report and the 2021 annual meeting minutes were approved. He continued by noting that the Partnership will continue to focus on supporting Steinway Street’s small businesses, as well as the streetscape, maintenance, marketing promotions, events and security in efforts to revitalize the district.
Barsamian and Foley both thanked Marie Torniali and her staff, as well as City officials and the NYC Department of Small Business Services for their continued support of the Partnership’s steadfast endeavors in enhancing the district and collaboration.
