New Women’s Center Comes To Ft. Totten

The Center for the Women of New York announced that the project to restore its new home at 207 Totten Ave. at Fort Totten, Bayside, received unanimous approval by Community Board 7 at its February 13 meeting.

With this approval, the project has to receive historical and landmark approval before going on to the formal steps of the release of funds from state and city agencies for bidding to begin.

When completed, the building will be the only full service women’s center devoted to women’s rights and equal opportunity between the metropolitan area and Seneca Falls, New York. The new home at Fort Totten will be used as a Women’s History, Conference and Career Education Center and is expected to be a rich resource for the entire community.
