In an auspicious home opener at Citi Field, the Mets beat the Marlins 9-3 on Friday, April 7. The game was postponed from Thursday, due to a heavy rain forecast that failed to materialize. The heroes of the game were home run hitters Starling Marte and Francisco Lindor, as well as Pete Alonso, who also drove in two runs for the Mets. Filling in for Justin Verlander who is currently on the Mets’ disabled list, Tylor Megill pitched six shutout innings.
