It’s In(side) Queens: Best Burger Blast



It’s a win-win-win. Enjoy a thought-provoking film about friendship, break the monotony, and support a great Queens institution. Museum of the Moving Image streams “Fourteen” from May 20 to June 7. The 94-minute chick flick follows two women who have been close friends since childhood. One establishes boundaries, and a bittersweet breakup ensues.
Children can enjoy cherished screen time while also learning about science and math. The New York Hall of Science’s webpage offers The Pack, a free app that pairs environmental concepts with computational thinking. Gamers head to Argos, a fictional world full of colorful, whimsical, pastel creatures, to wake a friend from a stupor induced by nature’s destruction.
COVID stifles humans, but it can’t stifle human creativity. The Astoria Performing Arts Center starts streaming the premiere of “The Insiders: Musicals from the Quarantine” on May 22. A collaboration between 15 writers, five directors, and 16 actors who couldn’t be in the same room together, the show features six musicals that address life during the pandemic.
They consist of everything from grass-fed Angus beef to tofu-and-vegetable mixes. They match well with French fries, cole slaw and bacon. (We know, bacon is great with just about anything.) Figaro! Figaro! Figaro! A new, free digital, drop-in program lets senior citizens sing, tell jokes, and support each other. Expect Broadway hits, old-time radio bits, and poetry, along with conversations about isolation. Sessions are set for May 19 at 2 pm, May 20 at noon, May 26 at 2 pm, and May 27 at noon. Queensboro Dance Festival 2020 will start on May 16 and run until Oct. 4. Audiences will enjoy live presentations, classes, and Q&A sessions with choreographers. As to be expected in the world’s most diverse county, the lineup includes Arabic Bellydance, Ballet, Cumbia, Flamenco, Hip-Hop, Latin Ballroom, Modern, Tap, and West African.
