Pirate Pete

Black History Month celebrations continue through the week. They mix with a meat-lover’s paradise, Korean shaman rhythms, jazz brunch, winter wellness, the Fab Four, and a pirate who’s lost his beloved, pancake-eating parrot.

Feb. 21, SaaWee: New Ritual, 8 pm. Sita Chay (Latin Grammy-winning violinist) and Jihye Kim (provocative percussionist) are SaaWee, which embraces current society’s wounds and heals them via ritualistic performance, incorporating Korean shaman rhythm, Korean mask dance, and contemporary languages created through violin. Feb. 23, Sorry to Bother You, 2 pm. A free screening of a 2018 comedy about a young African-American telemarketer who adopts a white accent to succeed. Feb. 23, Dhegrae & Digression, 7 pm. Music mixes with performance art when EtM Con Edison composer-in-residence Sheree Clement presents the world premiere of a new work commissioned by vocal duo Dhegrae & Digression in a setting of poems by Phillis Levin.
