DRINKOLOGY

Modern American Cuisine Drinkology

Drinkology offers a magical escape from your average day. Opened at the start of May, Drinkology is Astoria’s newest dining and sipping hot spot featuring modern American cuisine and craft cocktails in a sultry, fairy-tale style setting. What’s more, live music on Wednesdays and during weekend brunch add to the overall aesthetic of this “must see” venue.

Brothers Mirian and Vinny have many years in the restaurant and hospitality business and designed, created, and built Drinkology to offer a unique experience for diners and sippers. No detail was overlooked as you slip into the jade green bar where your cocktails are designed and mixed by well-dressed, professional mixologists behind a sparkling backlit bar below an illuminated image of a magical fairy. Drinks are mixed and shaken with fresh herbs, fruit and fine spirits, then elegantly presented on a doily for impact with names such as Remmy Style, Passionante, Flamingo, Scent of a Woman, and Sunday.

Dream-like white chandeliers cast a warm glow as you go past the bar to find a small, persimmon-colored intimate room with a larger dining room beyond it bedecked in subtle gray tones, velvet seats and banquettes, and flowers on the tables. This ideal setting showcases the artfully prepared dishes from shareable plates to sandwiches, burgers, salads, and generous main dishes.

Shareable plates include marinated octopus carpaccio with pickled onions, sweet peppers, and yuzu reduction that we devoured. Truffled shrimp dumplings are tender wrappers full of tender shrimp, shallots and garlic, served with sweet chili sauce ($20). Shrimp get a Middle Eastern twist from chickpea crust and harissa for dipping. Lobster guacamole is perfect for sharing at the bar or at your table to be scooped up with warm tortilla chips. A house favorite is chicken “lollipops” glazed in smokey bourbon sauce with four to an order garnished with tear drop peppers and micro greens ($19). Burrata salad tower is constructed on baby arugula with eggplant caponata, and heirloom tomatoes drizzled with aged balsamic.

The servers at Drinkology are so kind and efficient. Dishes are swiftly removed as your water glass is refilled, awaiting your next course. King salmon is an impressive platter of perfectly grilled fish with Israeli couscous, asparagus, and a unique saffron vanilla reduction that compliments the salmon. Slowly cooked short ribs of beef fall off the bone and are presented with roasted cauliflower and sweet potato puree. I enjoyed gemelli pasta topped with jumbo shrimp, baby fennel, roasted tomatoes and artichokes. Penne alla vodka gets a special zip from chipotle scented tomato cream sauce.

Sandwiches and burgers make a hearty meal at Drinkology. My charming companion enjoyed the lobster fra’diavolo burger topped with warm burrata on a crusty roll. The sweet lobster meat is mildly seasoned and so delicious, served with a basket of hand-cut French fries. The short rib burger requires two hands and a big appetite, topped with Manchego cheese and spicy aioli on a brioche bun. The expert chef at Drinkology makes a perfectly seared, pepper-crusted Ahi tuna club sandwich with crispy pancetta, oven roasted tomato and caper aioli that’s perfect for dinner or weekend brunch ($20).

You’ll want to sweeten things up with some dessert and Drinkology doesn’t disappoint. Limoncello cake is moist and layered with lemony cream in a puddle or raspberry sauce. Rich, flourless chocolate cake melts in your mouth, or you can scoop up cool gelato or fruity sorbets.

Plan your next private party or corporate event at Drinkology and impress your guests in style. They can accommodate up to 60 people so call now to book your event.
