Cabbie Wanted In Kidnap/Molest Of 11-Year-Old Girl

Police are searching for the driver of a green cab who allegedly molested an 11-year-old girl in Astoria on December 11.

The girl said she slipped out of her family home in Ridgewood at about 1 a.m. on December 11, and headed to her cousin’s home in Astoria for help after she was bullied at school, a police source said.

She jumped on the subway, but got lost and ended up in Manhattan, the source said. The girl switched trains several times before ending up at the 61st Street/Woodside Avenue station on the No. 7 line just before 4 a.m., the source said.

The girl told police she walked to 30th Street and 30th Avenue, where the driver of a green cab pulled over to her and demanded that she get into the front passenger seat. She told police the driver fondled her chest and grabbed her phone, but she managed to get it back – and jumped out of the cab when it stopped at a red light at 30th Drive near 12th Street. The girl told investigators that the driver didn’t follow her, because she promised to meet him at the same place later that day.

The girl told police she called 911 as soon as she escaped from the cabbie.

Cops said the girl was able to provide a description of her attacker and two possible license plate numbers. Surveillance footage obtained from a nearby business shows her exiting the cab, police said.

The suspect is described as an Indian or Hispanic male in his 40s, about 5-feet, 8-inches tall, with a medium build, messy black hair, brown eyes and a freckled, clean-shaven face. He was wearing black jeans, a gray sweater and black Sketchers sneaker at the time of the attack.

The girl was taken to a nearby hospital and released into her parents’ custody, police said.
