Kim Parshley, an agent with Halvatzis Realty, was quite surprised when MTV’s Made showed up in her office with their featured lead, a model named Megan from Kentucky, who came to New York seeking opportunities in one of the major cities of the fashion industry. Megan needed an affordable apartment near Manhattan that allowed dogs and was roomy enough for herself, her boyfriend and her dog. Parshley said the producers of the show saw the most positive reviews by customers about Halvatzis Realty, 28-16 Ditmars Blvd., Astoria, and specifically Parshley, on the Web site Astorians.com and chose them to help Megan in her quest for the best apartment she could find for $1,200 a month or less. Although it was quite unnerving to have to perform her duties as realtor meeting with a client under the glare of cameras while pretending they weren’t there, Parshley said she was honored to have been chosen to take on this challenge. She is also owner of a Web site which she launched herself, www.chooseafamily.com, which matches up people who are orphans, or only children for example, who would like more family members. It is a free Web site that now has 600 members and is continuing to grow. The show which spotlights a new person with different aspirations who needs coaching aired Friday, June 22.
