On Saturday, June 25, longtime gay rights activist Councilmember Daniel Dromm (second from l.), joined by (l. to r.) state Senator Jose Peralta, Councilmember Jimmy Van Bramer, Van Bramer’s partner, Daniel Hendrick, and Rabbi Laura Cohen, invited the community to help cut a wedding cake in front of the Jackson Heights Post Office to celebrate the passage of the Marriage Equality Act, making New York the sixth state to recognize same-sex marriage. The act is expected to generate $142 million in revenue for New York City.
