Reception For QED’s Newest Featured Artist

Painting by Eileen Coyne, whose work will be exhibited at Q.E.D., opening on January 15.

Painting by Eileen Coyne, whose work will be exhibited at Q.E.D., opening on January 15. Since its opening, Q.E.D.’s gallery has featured rotating artwork from local artists, including photographers, painters, and experimental work. This installation will feature artwork by Queens artist Eileen Coyne. Coyne received her art education in Queens at The Bridgeview School of Fine Arts. She is a proud member of the non-profit arts advocacy organization LIC Artists, Inc. It is there that she found a diverse and supportive community of professional Queens-based artists.

Q.E.D. will hold an opening night reception in celebration of a new installation featuring work by Coyne on Tuesday, January 15 from 6-8 pm.

Coyne has exhibited extensively in Queens, most notably LIC-A’s The Plaxall Gallery, The Factory, where her work is on view now, Citibank, and two paintings at Astoria’s Chateau Le Woof.

Growing up in an Irish working-class family in a slowly deteriorating steel town in Western Pennsylvania, Coyne was intrigued by the social and racial diversity in her community. “I’m a figurative painter most interested in capturing the humanity in every living creature, no matter two or four legs,” Coyne said. “I also use my art as a means to advocate for social issues that matter deeply to me.”

Eileen Coyne’s installation will remain on view at Q.E.D. and for sale through June 2019. The free opening night reception will take place on Tuesday, January 15 from 6-8 pm. Drink specials and light snacks will be available.
