The United Community Civic Association’s Annual Holiday Champagne Brunch at the LaGuardia Marriott Hotel. The United Community Civic Association (UCCA) held its Annual Holiday Champagne Brunch on Sunday, December 2 at the La- Guardia Marriott Hotel. Overlooking the new LaGuardia Airport at Ditmars Blvd. and 102nd Street, a full house celebrated UCCA’s 26 years serving the community.

Brunch Chair Mount Sinai Queens Chief Operating Officer Judy Trilivas, RN, MA, welcomed everyone. NYS Senator Michael Gianaris then led the Pledge of Allegiance, along with Assembly Member Aravella Simotas, NYC Council Member Costa Constantinides, Assembly Member Michael DenDekker, and Queens Borough President Melinda Katz.

There was an open buffet, including champagne and mimosas, followed by a formal welcome from United Community Civic Association President RoseMarie Poveromo.

Trilivas and Poveromo presented awards to this year’s honorees, Woman of the Year Tracy Capune, Vice President, Kaufman Astoria Studios; and Man of the Year Thomas Nilsson, Senior Vice President, Chief Executive, Skanska Walsh Joint Venture.

Poveromo said, “We are so very thankful that through all these many years we have so many faithful, loyal friends who support our efforts every year for a better quality of life. It is most appreciated, and we wish everyone a happy, healthy holiday season.”

The affair was capped off with the raffle drawing.
