Man Wanted In Three Burglaries At Astoria Building

Police are on the lookout for a brazen thief who made off with thousands of dollars worth of savings bonds, jewelry and cash in three recent Astoria burglaries. Cops said the suspect struck in broad daylight three times since September 5, burglarizing apartments in a building on 27th Street near 25th Road.

The man struck first between 9 am and 6 pm on September 5, where he made off with an undisclosed amount of savings bonds, along with jewelry and $3,000 cash, police said. The suspect fled in an unknown direction immediately after the break-in. The same man broke into a second apartment in the same building between noon and 1 pm on October 18, but left empty handed. The suspect struck last between 9 am and 6:30 pm on October 19, when he broke into a third apartment in the building and made off with approximately $3,400 worth of jewelry, police said.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage retrieved from at least one of the apartments as part of an ongoing  investigation and are urging anyone with information to call the CrimeStoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS or click on www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
