Man Indicted In ATV Push Slay

By Liz Goff
A 24-year-old Queens man was indicted on September 27th on murder charges for intentionally pushing a 65-year-old Ridgewood man off his bicycle, causing injuries that led to the victim’s death four days later.

Prosecutors said Sean Martin purposely performed a “kick-out” maneuver on his ATV on August 28th, knocking Eucario Xelo, 65, off his bicycle at Seneca Avenue and Woodbine Street in Ridgewood.

Xelo was on his way to his job as a dishwasher when he fell to the ground, prosecutors said. Martin sped away, leaving the father of eight and grandfather of five mortally wounded with grave head injuries.

Police found Xelo unconscious with his bicycle nearby. He was taken to a local hospital where he remained in a coma until he was removed from life support on September 1st.

Martin fled the scene but was captured on surveillance footage moments later, just blocks away, targeting a second cyclist, police said. That victim was also knocked to the ground, but was not seriously injured.

Martin was indicted on multiple counts of manslaughter, vehicular assault, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon (the vehicle) and was held without bail.
