Astoria World Manor

Astoria World Manor has been an icon of catering in the area for 64 years, offering personalized service for all of life’s special occasions. With six rooms that can accommodate from 50 to 1,000 people, you are sure to find one that suits you. Mr. Ahn and his multilingual banquet staff will guide you through that most important event of your life, or any special occasion that you are planning. Menus, linens, flowers, music and more can be arranged, in all budgets. What all rooms have in common are the beautiful appointments; tables elegantly dressed in crisp linens and festooned with napkin fans, mood lighting, and state-of-the-art sound and media systems. Gleaming dance floors and a crystal clear sound system will allow your guests to dance the night away, whether you choose a DJ or a live band.

I had the pleasure of attending a “tasting” recently as well as a showcase for DJs, limousines and more offered by the Astoria World Manor. I was impressed with the friendly staff, warm greetings and good service, delivered by tuxedo-clad men and women. In the sunny atrium room, a lavish buffet was prepared for us to provide a sampling of the diversity and quality of the cuisine offered. Tender chicken cordon bleu was layered with smoky ham and melted cheese in a crisp coating of bread crumbs, topped with a delicious sauce. Eggplant rollatini was as good as you’d find in high end Italian restaurants and the carving station provided freshly sliced roast turkey, Virginia ham and prime rib. Side dishes such as oven roasted potatoes and rice and beans please all guests. An impressive salad station was set up with Waldorf salad with bits of apple and walnuts, three-bean salad, fresh vegetable crudites, cheeses from around the world and more.

We took our seats with a family who was planning a 65th birthday for their beloved grandmother, and with Lisa, who was choosing menu items for her husband’s surprise 50th birthday party for 50 guests. Other guests had wedding bells to plan for, anniversaries, Sweet Sixteens and ‘quinceañeras’ amongst other happy occasions. While we went back to the buffet for seconds, the courteous staff immediately refolded our napkins and cleared away dishes.

Astoria World Manor has menus at all budgets. For a “Sit-Down Dinner” you’ll start with a champagne toast, fresh, seasonal melon, and soup or salad. Next you’ll make your choice of entrées from a list that includes prime rib of beef au jus, roast beef, filet mignon, chicken Cordon Bleu, Francese, or Parisienne. From the seafood list, there’s plump, juicy shrimp scampi, salmon with dill sauce or crusted tilapia with balsamic glaze. A more affordable “Butler Service Cocktail” is available with savory hors d’oeuvres passed on silver trays. Mini crab cakes, fried shrimp with tartar sauce, chicken kebabs, mini rice balls and pizza wedges are just some of the options here.

Visit “The Orchid Bridal Shop” where there is onestop shopping for help with invitations, photographers, DJs, dresses, tuxedos and limousines. You can also choose extra special upgrade options for your special affair such as a chocolate fountain, cotton candy maker, hot dog wagon, special Viennese dessert table and more. Speaking of desserts, you can choose to fill your special occasion cake with chocolate mousse, cannoli cream, dulce de leche caramel, pineapple, strawberry or cherry. The Viennese tables available feature an eye-dazzling array of desserts such as rice pudding, pastries, chocolates, chocolate-dipped fruit and ice cream, to name a few.
