37th Street Bank of America Branch To Close

A Bank of America (BOA) branch at 19-50 37th Street in Astoria will be closing its door as of November 27th, according to bank officials.

Customer accounts will be relocated to the BOA branch at 31-81 Steinway Street, where additional ATM machines will be available to accommodate new customers, a bank spokesperson said.

This latest closure is part of Bank of America’s plan to consolidate branches that offer online services sought by customers who prefer to do their banking outside the traditional storefronts, the spokesperson said.

“Financial centers are used increasingly to address more substantial yet infrequent client needs,” the spokesperson said. “Such as planning for retirement, securing a loan or establishing a banking relationship for their small business.”

More and more people are managing day-today needs of their personal accounts online, without the hassle of standing in line or shifting from teller to teller to accommodate specific needs, banking experts say. “Welcome to new millennium banking.”

Two other Bank of America branches are conveniently located at 30-18 36th Avenue in Dutch Kills and 37-41 82nd Street in Jackson Heights.
