New Traffic Light For Woodside Intersection

Department of Transportation (DOT) officials last month announced plans to install a traffic signal at a dangerous intersection in Woodside.

Local lawmakers and activists say the intersection at 61st Street and 32nd Avenue has long been a hazard to pedestrians and vehicles alike, and for years have petitioned DOT to install a traffic signal at the site.

According to statistics posted on the DOT website, more than 22 people were injured in motor vehicle accidents at the location over the last decade – 16 of which occurred at the site over the last three years.

DOT officials said the results of a recent traffic study confirmed the need for additional safety measures at the intersection. Officials said they expect to have the signal installed by September 30.
