Shots For School

New York State health officials are reminding parents and/or guardians of school age children that they must follow immunization requirements for youngsters entering the school system in September.

As of September 1, the State Department of Health will require youngsters to receive a complete series of shots for measles/mumps/rubella, polio and tetanus/diptheria/pertussis before parents can register them to start classes.

Youngsters who have received initial doses of the vaccines will be able to attend classes only if parents can prove they have scheduled appointments for final doses, state health officials said.
