14th Annual Forest Hills Jazz Thursdays – Free Outdoor Concerts

The Forest Hills Chamber of Commerce announced the annual Forest Hills Jazz Thursdays, free outdoor jazz concerts that will be held from August 16-23, 7 pm, on 70th Road between Austin Street and Queens Boulevard. The show will go on, rain or shine.

This year’s bands are LA Blacksmith and Jazz Plus, performing on Aug. 16, and Spanglish Fly, which was so popular last year, on Aug. 23. This is the 14th year of Jazz Thursdays.

LA Blacksmith & Jazz Plus will present a tribute to Herbie Hancock and Grover Washington. The charismatic LA Blacksmith himself is a gifted saxophonist, flutist and vocalist.

On Aug. 23, Spanglish Fly returns with its Latin boogaloo sound that had people dancing in the street last year. The 11-piece Spanglish Fly plays a mix of Latin and soul R&B music, fronted by vocalists Mariella Gonzalez and Paloma Munoz.
