The rain gave way to sun and thousands came out to enjoy the annual concert and fireworks celebration at the Astoria Park Great Lawn on Thursday, June 28. NYS Senator Michael Gianaris, Assembly Member Aravella Simotas, Council Members Costa Constantinides and Jimmy Van Bramer, and Queens Parks Commissioner Dorothy Lewandowski were all on hand for the festivities. The concert started at 7:30 pm with a stunning performance by the Patriot Brass Ensemble who entertained the audience with an awe-inspiring musical tribute to America. Everyone’s attention then turned to the sky for the highly anticipated fireworks show at 9 pm when the Grucci team, who had set up on the other side of the East River near the Hell Gate Bridge, started their show. Grucci did not disappoint with a spectacular pyrotechnics show, which was greeted with cheers from the thousands in attendance.

Quinn & Sons Funeral Home, Atlantic Bank, Dunkin’ Donuts, Mount Sinai Queens, NYC Ferry, The Durst Organization and BNB Bank.
