Kaufman Arts District Brings Free Summer Fun to Astoria

The Kaufman Arts District in Astoria is celebrating the start of summer with a free cultural event that will take place on the Kaufman Astoria Studios Backlot.  On Friday, June 29, The Mayor’s Office of Media & Entertainment’s  “Broadway in the Boros” series will come to the KAS Backlot with free performances from the hit Broadway musicals “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical” and “Once on This Island,” winner of the 2018 Tony for Best Revival of a Musical.  The performances will take place from 12 – 1 pm.

“There’s no better way to spend a summer weekend in New York than visiting and exploring the various arts and cultural offerings in the Kaufman Arts District, and we’re thrilled to have these two free, family-friendly events taking place on the Kaufman Astoria Studios Backlot,” said Hal Rosenbluth, President & CEO Kaufman Astoria Studios.

In addition to Broadway in the Boros, the arts institutions in the Kaufman Arts District will host events, exhibits and activities throughout the summer including the Noguchi Museum’s Miya Ando: Clouds installation (through August 19) and the Socrates Mini Market at the Socrates Sculpture Park (through November).
