Trucker Unlicensed In Cyclist Death

A truck driver who struck and killed a bicyclist in Long Island City on May 29th was driving with a suspended license, police said.

Cops said cyclist Aaron Padwee, 45, was pedaling along 21st Street near 46th Avenue at about 3 p.m. on May 29th when a motorist opened a car door in front of him. Padwee slammed into the door and flipped over it, landing in the street, police said.

Padwee landed in front of a box truck driven by Augustin Osario, who was driving with a suspended license.

Padwee was taken in grave condition to Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens, where he died a short while later Osario was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
