Crowley Endorsed By Two Dozen Labor Unions

Congress Member Joe Crowley (D-Queens, the Bronx), Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, received the endorsement of two dozen leading labor unions on April 30, including the Hotel Trades Council, New York State AFL-CIO, the Communications Workers of America, 32BJ SEIU, and 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East.

“Our economy and country are strongest when the men and women who work hardest to build our nation have the support and opportunities they deserve,” said Congress Member Crowley. “Having grown up in a neighborhood where nearly every family had a dues-paying union member, I know the immense benefits these organizations bring to working men and women. I’m proud to stand arm-in-arm with my brothers and sisters in labor as we continue the fight for higher-paying jobs, increased benefits, and expanded protections for workers.”

NYS AFL-CIO President Mario Cilento said, “Congressman Joe Crowley is a true champion for the cause of all working people with a proven record of standing up for the middle class. From securing health benefits for 9/11 responders and survivors, to fighting for increased access to health care and housing and delivering federal funding to improve the Bronx-Queens community, he has demonstrated his commitment to working families. Congress Member Joe Crowley also received endorsements from the TWU Local 100, International Union of Elevator Constructors, Ironworkers Local 361, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 3, the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, and the Plumbers Local 1.

Crowley has long advocated and supported policies that benefit the men and women of labor. He recently introduced legislation to ban employers from forcing workers to sign restrictive non-compete agreements and lobbied the Obama administration to include federal contractors in efforts to raise the minimum wage. 

New York’s 14th Congressional District includes parts of Queens and the Bronx.
