197 Years of Independence



On April 22, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo marched as a Grand Marshal in the 2018 Greek Independence Day Parade in Manhattan celebrating the 197th anniversary of Greek Independence. He was joined at the parade held on Fifth Avenue by Congress Member Carolyn Maloney; Honorary Parade Chair, His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church of America; Federation of Hellenic Societies of Greater New York President Petros Galatoulas; Parade Grand Marshals Nassau County District Attorney, Madeline Singas, and philanthropist Pantelis Boumbouras, and other dignitaries. Also marching in the 80th annual celebration (not pictured) were Greek American elected officials NYS Senator Michael Gianaris, Assembly Member Aravella Simotas, and NYC Council Member Costa Constantinides, as well as Mayor Bill de Blasio, and US Senator Chuck Schumer.
