Aktina’s Greek Music Journey 2018: The Magic Of Bouzouki

On Friday, April 20, at 8:30 pm, AKTINA Productions will be hosting the latest concert in its acclaimed series, “Greek Music Journey” at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College, on 68th Street, between Park and Lexington Avenues in Manhattan. Entitled “The Magic of Bouzouki and An Ode To Greek Song,” this spectacular concert will highlight the everlasting Rembetika (Greek blues), Laika (popular folk), and songs by great Greek composers, such as Mikis Theodorakis (“Zorba the Greek”), Stavros Xarhakos (Rembetiko) and others. This one-of-a-kind musical performance will feature, from Greece, the renowned bouzouki soloist, Andreas Karantinis, the renowned guitarist-composer Manolis Androulidakis and his band and the talented singers, Vasiliki Stefanou and Aris Kampanos.

Referring to the upcoming performance, the President of AKTINA and the concert’s Executive Producer, Elena Maroulleti said “This year we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of both AKTINA Productions and of AKTINA FM Radio. On this auspicious occasion, we have decided to celebrate with a very unique musical performance that will highlight exceptional and representative songs which also comprise AKTINA FM’s musical identity. We have selected some of the finest and most talented musicians from the new generation to participate who promise an unforgettable performance!”

Bouzouki soloist Andreas Karantinis who participated in two previous concerts from the series, Greek Music Journey, is currently one of the most important and distinguished musicians of the new generations.
