Participatory Budgeting In Northeast Queens Starting

The voting for the fourth year of participatory budgeting in northeast Queens officially begins running Saturday, April 7 through Sunday, April 15. In last year’s cycle, Council Member Vallone was proud to allocate over $1 million in funding to projects that the community determined and voted for. For a second straight year, Council Member Vallone’s district brought in the most votes in all of Queens. This year, residents of Council District 19 (Auburndale, Bayside, Bay Terrace, Beechhurst, College Point, Douglaston, Little Neck, Malba, North Flushing and Whitestone) will be able to vote for up to five projects from a range of 20 different projects. Also, this year, online voting will be available!

The full list of projects, voting locations, times and projects are on Vallone’s web page, at paulvallone.com/participatory-budgeting, as well as instructions on how to vote online. Council Member Vallone encourages anyone with questions, or who wants to learn more about Participatory Budgeting, to reach out to his office at 718-619-8611 or by email at district19@council.nyc.gov.

“Excitement is building as we prepare to kick off our fourth Participatory Budgeting voting cycle,” said Vallone. “Participatory budgeting is a great way to get the pulse of the community and see what everyone believes city dollars and resources should be spent on. Last year’s incredibly successful cycle, which once again garnered the most votes of any council district in Queens, shows the power and importance of this grassroots-fueled process.

“I look forward to announcing this year’s winners.”
