Celebrating Culture At The Secret Theatre In LIC!

Central Astoria Local Development Coalition’s Multicultural Celebration at The Secret Theatre (44-02 23rd Street, #104, Long Island City), provided the community with an amazing array of cultures from around the world on Sunday, March 18. The audience was not only captivated by the outstanding performances, but also by the fascinating traditional dress. Kinding Sindaw presented traditional music and dance from the Philippines; Kotchegna Dance Company performed traditional music and dance of West Africa; Eletfa Folk Band presented traditional music of Hungary; Academia de Mariachi Nuevo Amanecer performed traditional music of Mexico; FolkCOLOMBIA showcased their native music and dance; The Greek American Folklore Society showcased music and dance from various regions of Greece; Gorana Dance Company performed traditional music and dance from Bulgaria; Banatul Folklore Group performed traditional music and dance of Romania; Braata Productions brought Caribbean sounds and flair to the celebration; and the all-female Brazilian drumline and samba band FogoAzul NYC capped off the event with great gusto.

NYC Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer stopped by the event and noted that he was proud to provide funding for great cultural events such as this for the Astoria and Long Island City community, and the hundreds of nationalities living in this part of his district.
