Van Bramer Discusses Gun Control With High School Students

NYC Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer met with students from Bard High School Early College Queens, located in Long Island City, to discuss gun control and school safety. In light of the mass murder in Parkland, Florida and ongoing occurrences of gun violence across the country, these local students have organized and wanted to meet with the Council Member and other elected officials to effectuate change. “The shooting in Parkland has activated young people across the country to advocate for their safety and for gun control,” said Council Member Van Bramer. “This meeting is one of the positive things to come out of that tragedy. As young people continue to meet with, hold accountable, and inspire lawmakers, we may see progress on this issue. Meeting with the students today provided me an amazing opportunity to see the current climate from the unique perspective of these students and left me with a sense of hope about our future.”
