Call For Calming Measures

New York City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer and members of the Long Island City community called on the Department of Transportation on March 9 to implement comprehensive traffic calming measures on Center Boulevard. Council Member Van Bramer has previously urged the DOT to address the unsafe conditions on this street and has again demanded that the agency take action. In light of the tragedy in Brooklyn last week, when two young children were killed, neighborhood parents and the Council Member once again are demanding that DOT address the dangerous conditions and Center Boulevard immediately. “It is clear to everyone here today that this street is not safe for the children and families who cross this street every day,” said Van Bramer. “We can’t wait for a tragedy to happen to make this street safe. DOT must act now, before someone is injured or, God forbid, killed. The safety of our children is at stake and comprehensive safety measures must be implemented immediately.” New York City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer and members of the Long Island City community called on the Department of Transportation on March 9 to implement comprehensive traffic calming measures on Center Boulevard.
