NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Celebrates Lunar New Year

(Seated in front and standing in back): The Lion Dancers and other performers.NewYork-Presbyterian Queens celebrated the Lunar New Year with an event on February 20.  Guests were treated to a performance of traditional Chinese and Korean entertainment, including a Lion Dance and a Korean Drum Dance, as well as a buffet luncheon featuring a variety of Asian cuisines.

The Lunar New Year is recognized by many Asian cultures. The date of the Lunar New Year is determined by the moon’s cycle.  Each year, the New Year correlates to one of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac. This is the Year of the Dog, which symbolizes loyalty, determination and honesty.

NYS Senator Toby Ann Stavisky, NYC Council Member Peter Koo, Assembly Member Nily Rozic, and Assembly Member David Weprin joined Jaclyn Mucaria, President of NewYork-Presbyterian Queens in welcoming the New Year.
