Grand Opening Of New Queens LGBT Center

Queens Borough President Melinda Katz was among the dignitaries who participated in the February 1 grand opening of the LGBT Network’s new Queens LGBT Center in Long Island City. The new LGBT Center will allow the LGBT Network to do an even better job of advocating for members of the Queens LGBT community. It will also facilitate the Network’s joint initiative with the NYPD and Queens County District Attorney Richard Brown to protect lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals from hate crimes. Other elected officials who joined in the ceremonial ribbon cutting included US Representative Joseph Crowley (third from r.), New York City Public Advocate Letitia James (fourth from r.), NYS Senator Michael Gianaris (fourth from l.), Assembly Member Brian Barnwell (third from l.), Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer (second from l.) and Assembly Member Stacey Pheffer Amato (l.).
