Georgia Diner Slated To Close

The Georgia Diner (86-55 Queens Boulevard), a classic Elmhurst favorite for 40 years, is about to close in March. It was announced Georgia Diner will merge with nearby Nevada Diner, also in Elmhurst (80-26 Queens Boulevard). The two diners are owned by Jimmy Kaloidis, who decided to sell the building currently housing Georgia. They will keep most of the staff—and equally important to its loyal customers—the food will remain the same generous, delicious fare. The premises will be demolished and replaced by an edifice of 18 stories, mostly residential. March 25, the closing date, is coincidentally Greek Independence Day.
