BOROUGH PRESIDENT HOSTS TEACH-IN ON AFRICA AND HAITI

Borough President Katz and the Queens General Assembly were proud to host a February 5th public forum entitled “Proud Of Our Heritage: A Teach-In About Africa, Haiti, and Where We All Come From.” The evening event in the Helen Marshall Cultural Center in Queens Borough Hall was convened to give attendees the opportunity to learn about Africa and Haiti and to pay respect to and highlight all the nationalities represented in Queens. The Borough President is shown here with the event’s guest speakers: Andrew P. Jackson, executive director emeritus of the Langston Hughes Community Library (l.); Elsie St. Louis-Accilien, executive director of Haitian Americans United for Progress (second from l.); and Kewulay Kamara, the founder of the African arts organization Badenya and director of the film “Finah Misa Kule.”
