Governor Declares Special Election For Assembly District 39

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo issued a proclamation Monday, declaring an April 24 special election date for nine vacant Assembly seats and two vacant Senate seats throughout the state.

Governor Cuomo signed the proclamation on February 5 ordering the special election to be held in Assembly District 39 in Queens, which includes parts of Jackson Heights, Elmhurst and Corona. The vacancy was caused by the resignation of Francisco Moya, who won the 21st City Council seat last fall. Moya assumed office January 1.
