Worker Dies In Six-Story Plunge

By Liz Goff
A 26-year-old Flushing man fell out an open window and plummeted six floors to his death on January 23, police said.

Cops said John Davie was removing the window from an apartment on the sixth floor of an apartment building on Saunders Street and 62nd Drive in Rego Park just before 3 p.m. on January 26 when he fell to the pavement below.

Davies, his father and a third man were performing renovations at the apartment when he tumbled out the window, police said.

Davies father raced to his son’s side and was heard wailing, calling the young man’s name by police who responded to the scene.

Davies was pronounced dead at the scene approximately 10 minutes later, a fire spokesperson said.

His grief-stricken mother collapsed on the sidewalk after learning that her son had died, police said.

Both parents were taken from the scene by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
