Sign Up To Shovel Snow

Officials at the Department of Sanitation (DOS) are searching for a few good men – and women who are interested in shoveling show from city streets this winter season.

DOS officials said the jobs include shoveling bus shelters, bus stops, crosswalks, steps at municipal buildings and transit sites, at fire hydrants and public school sites.

Queens residents interested in signing up as Temporary Snow Laborers may do so at any local DOS garage, Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Applicants must be18 years or older, be eligible to work in the United States and able to perform heavy physical labor.

Applicants must bring two, 1½ inch square photos, two documented proofs of identity and employment eligibility such as a driver’s license, Social Security card, federal, state identification or IDNYC card. You must bring original and one copy of each form of ID. Applicants must also bring passport to register.
