CEC24 is in Phase 2 of its Nominate An Outstanding Staff Member awards and wants your nominations. Anyone who is a staff member in your school (in District 24) can be nominated. Nominations for Phase 2 close on December 15. Visit http://tinyurl.com/cec24-nsf-phase2.

Katherine Stalford, Alyssa Auson, Nicky Caracci and Queens Metropolitan High School students shared their feedback and experiences on teen depression, bullying and suicide. They discussed what it was like to either go through it personally, have a friend who was considering suicide, or just be a teen and what they feel parents should look out for if their teen is behaving a certain way. “It took a lot of courage to stand up in front of a large crowd which included administration from many schools, elected officials, the Superintendent of District 24, Madelene Chan, as well as news reporters. Great job, students!” said Accardo.

Gillian Smith and Donna Brailsford, city Department of Education Crisis/Deescalation Managers, gave a presentation and Q&A on teen depression, suicide, bullying and belonging. They also provided literature for everyone to take home.
