(L. to r.); Kiwanis Lieutenant Governor Nodia Chambers; Lenny Mancuso, President; Dr. Salwa Elmeawad, Vice President; Elizabeth Martinez, Incoming Board Member; Bill Risbrook, Treasurer; and Oralene Davis, Secretary. The Bayside Kiwanis Club, at a specially called meeting, installed its new slate of officers for year 2017-2018. All officers from the prior year were unanimously reelected. Kiwanis Lieutenant Governor Nodia Chambers officiated at the installation ceremony which was held at Mateus Restaurant in Jamaica. President Lenny Mancuso stated that the past year was full of many activities that served the needs of the community. Some events included benefits at Ronald McDonald House, St. Albans Veterans’ Hospital, St. Mary’s Children’s Hospital, Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center at LIJ, and relief aid to victims of hurricanes, just to name a few. Due to this great momentum, 2018 promises to be an even stronger year. Mancuso also announced that the club’s next major fundraiser will be held at Applebee’s Restaurant in Bay Terrace on January 20, 2018 from 8 to 10 a.m. A full breakfast will be served for a modest price of $10 per person and all proceeds will go to these and other worthy causes.

The club holds its meetings the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Whitestone branch of Queens Library. Guests are always welcomed.
