We Thank The Givers

Now that we are poised between Thanksgiving and the next big holiday, Christmas, we’d like to take a moment to thank all the volunteers who turned out for Thanksgiving–various churches, local elected officials, local businesses, community organizations and individuals– who did so much to make Thanksgiving truly a time for everyone to be thankful. We may sometimes take holiday get-togethers for granted, but not everyone can afford any extras at all. It can be hard to keep up with bills and many organizations make it a point to step up and make the holidays for others a little brighter. We want to acknowledge their generosity, for donations of food, cash, and for their time, which we alluded to in our editorial last week.

It feels so great to witness such a big outpouring, we felt it was worth a shout-out to all those who took the time out from their own busy schedules to collect and deliver turkeys, and also took time out from celebrations with their families and friends on Thanksgiving Day to help prepare and deliver meals.

Spreading good cheer is what it is all about. In addition to the turkeys and trimmings people brought, the caring spirit of givers warmed the hearts of those in need, and for all that we commend you.
