Astoria’s Scariest Halloween House

Fast becoming a treasured tradition in Astoria, Vicky Poumpouridis’ “Halloween house” at 22-13 26th Street in Astoria. One of Astoria’s favorite Halloween houses is even bigger and better this year! Vicky Poumpouridis has outdone herself with a creepy animatronic Freddy Krueger near the entrance and two enormous, glowing inflatable spiders perched on the rooftop of 22-13 26th Street in Astoria.

Her friend Amy Hsieh Wu explained that it has taken years for attorney Vicky Poumpouridis to curate such a spooktacular collection. She searches for the perfect decorations year-round and starts laying out the overall design of animatronics, props, and lighting well in advance of Halloween, including drawn-to-scale sketches. “The resulting vision rivals Disney World’s Tower of Terror. With help from her sister, cardiologist Kyriaki Poumpouridis, Vicky has prepared her house to welcome the hundreds of trick-or-treaters who dare approach for their sweet reward.”

Wu added, “My husband and I also helped her give out candy last year and were shocked when Vicky suggested we dole out treats by the fistful, even to a seemingly endless stream of trick-or-treaters! Ever so generous, she couldn’t disappoint visitors with a house decorated like she has!
