Van Bramer Honors Menchaca, Others At Hispanic Leadership Awards

The awards ceremony, held every year during Hispanic Heritage Month, recognizes outstanding community leaders for their service to western Queens, the rest of New York City, and the world as a whole.
This year, Majority Leader Van Bramer presented the Distinguished Public Service Award to Brooklyn Council Member Carlos Menchaca. He also honored the following leaders for their tireless work on behalf of the community:
• Sofie Moncayo: PTA President at I.S. 125 in Woodside
• Joel Ochoa: Technical Support Specialist at the Woodside Library
• Clara Oza: Parent Coordinator at P.S. 343
• Luis Alban: President, PTA Presidents Council & Member of CEC24
• Carolina Peñafiel: Executive Director at the Local Project Art Space
• Nanette Morales: Office Assistant with Catholic Migration Services
