Katz Promotes Prostate Cancer Awareness

Queens Borough President Melinda Katz issued a Proclamation declaring October 19, 2017 to be “Prostate Cancer Awareness Day” in Queens. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men other than skin cancer, with about one man in seven being diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetimes. But prostate cancer can often be treated successfully, especially if it is diagnosed early using available screening tests. Accepting the Proclamation was Dr. Riccardo Ricciardi, a urologist with Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, Flushing Hospital Medical Center and Integrated Medical Professionals. Information about how to obtain a free prostate cancer screening can be found at www.imfcares.org.
