Call For A Traffic Light At Dangerous Sunnyside Intersection

Council Majority Leader Jimmy Van Bramer was joined on October 12 by P.S. 343 Principal Brooke Barr, P.S. 343 Parents Coordinator Clara Oza, P.S. 343 students, and other community leaders in renewing the call for a traffic light at the hazardous Sunnyside intersection of 42nd Street and 47th Avenue. Majority Leader Van Bramer has received countless requests from constituents in the area regarding the danger of the intersection and has called on the Department of Transportation on multiple occasions to address these issues and initiate the process of installing a traffic light. “I join my constituents in demanding that the Department of Transportation take action in making this intersection safer,” said Majority Leader Jimmy Van Bramer. “For years, the traffic at this intersection has endangered the safety of countless students, parents, and other members of the Sunnyside community. We must act before a child loses their life. We can avoid crashes here and must act now.”
