New Multi-Use Building On 28th Avenue

A one-story auto repair shop at 40-17 28th Avenue is about to be transformed into a unique, three-story commercial building that will feature 124 off-street parking spaces just one block from the Steinway Street commercial strip.

According to plans filed in August with the city Department of Buildings, the building will also feature 7,115-square-feet of space for an “eating and dining establishment,” split between the first floor and the roof, and 7,151-suare-feeet of community space on the second and third floors.
Parking will extend four floors below street level to keep it hidden from view.
The existing one-story garage is slated for demolition to make way for the new building.
Construction is expected to begin in the very near future. The developer has not announced a completion date for the project.
