By Liz Goff
A 14-story, mixed residential/retail building will soon rise near the heart of the Jackson Heights neighborhood.

According to design plans released by the developer, the new building at 71-17 Roosevelt Avenue will feature 95,000-square-feet of residential space with 139 rental apartments averaging about 700-square-feet each.

The development will also feature 5,400-square-feet of retail space on the ground floor and 19,000-square-feet of community facility space on the second floor that will be transformed into medical offices.

Plans include parking spaces for 167 vehicles, most of which will be located in a garage o the cellar.

The building is located within walking distance to the E, R, M, R, and No.7 subway lines and is just blocks away from the Broadway corridor and Northern Boulevard. The development is also within walking distance to local MTA bus lines and the Roosevelt Avenue shopping district.

Developer Weber Real Estate acquired the parcel for $7 million in 2015. The developers are awaiting approval of demolition permits and anticipate completion of the project by 2020.
