Endorsements For Tuesday’s Primary Elections

Next Tuesday, September 12, primary elections will be held for registered Democrats, who can go to the polls to make their choice of who will be their candidates for mayor, public advocate and also City Council positions.

The Gazette is endorsing the following candidates for City Council (by district):

19th – Paul Vallone. We proudly endorse Councilman Paul Vallone for reelection. In just (his first) four years as councilman, Vallone has revitalized northeast Queens like never before. Whether it’s been by supporting schools, parks, libraries and not-for-profits with $65 million in funding, or uniting neighborhoods by restoring spectacular family events like the Fort Totten Fireworks and Bayside Children’s Holiday Parade, Paul Vallone has proven that his communities and constituents are his number one priority. He builds partnerships and galvanizes people to action. This type of leadership is exactly what northeast Queens needs for four more years.

20th – Peter Koo fights hard for his district and has created an atmosphere of community responsiveness. His office assists many members of the community.

21st – Francisco Moya vs. Hiram Monserrate. We encourage our readers who reside in the district to carefully assess the candidates and their qualifications. They both have strong ties to the community and have represented segments of the neighborhoods involved. This could be a close election – your vote counts. Many elected officials and Democratic Party leaders have strongly endorsed Moya, who is currently the assemblyman covering part of the district.

23rd – Barry Grodenchik.
24th – Rory Lancman.
30th – Elizabeth Crowley.
Whatever you do – get out and VOTE.
