Congressman Joe Crowley hosted two back-to-school events on Tuesday, August 22 to distribute much-needed supplies to local community youth. He first visited students from Elmcor Youth and Adult Activities’ R.I.S.E U.P. program and was later joined by NYS Assemblyman Francisco Moya at the Queens Library in LeFrak City. School supplies, including notebooks, pens, pencils, rulers and other materials were distributed to approximately 150 students.

“If we want our children to succeed, we need to ensure they have the resources necessary to get off on the right track for the upcoming school year,” said Rep. Crowley. “The cost of school supplies should never be onerous for families in our community, and we want to make sure our children are not starting school at a disadvantage. Each year, I’m proud to partner with our elected officials and local summer camps to provide some of the tools they’ll need to make the most of their education.”

“With summer almost over, students are getting ready to go back to their studies and need supplies for the new school year,” said Assemblyman Moya. “The cost of school supplies should never be a burden, and I am proud to join Congressman Crowley in handing out free supplies to local students in the community to help working families on a tight budget. I thank the Congressman for sponsoring this morning's events and wish everyone returning to school a great year!”
