Koo Receives Endorsement Of Detectives’ Endowment Association

Councilman Peter Koo received the endorsement of the Detectives’ Endowment Association (DEA) he announced on August 21. The labor union has over 17,000 active and retired New York police detectives. The DEA’s mission is to  advocate on behalf of its members and fight to ensure fair collective bargaining, preserve adequate civil service benefits and protect working class New Yorkers.
President of The Detectives’ Endowment Association Michael Palladino stated, “The Detectives’ Endowment Association is pleased to endorse Councilman Peter Koo’s bid for reelection to the New York City Council in the 20th District. Through the years, we’ve continued to maintain a very good working relationship with Peter. We trust that he will continue be receptive to the needs and concerns of New York’s first responders, and we are looking forward to working productively with him on issues that affect both the law enforcement and labor communities.”
“I am honored to have the endorsement of the Detectives’ Endowment Association, who advocate on behalf of the brave men and women of the NYPD,” said Koo. “I want to continue to work closely with the DEA on all issues that affect the members of law enforcement.  I will continue to stand with the Detectives’ Endowment Association to effectuate their mission to support their members and to ensure we do everything within our power to keep our city safe.”
Councilman Koo secured over $1 million funding to provide security cameras to all three NYCHA developments in his district, the last of which was fully funded as of 2016. He also allocated additional funds to the NYPD for ARGUS cameras at key areas in the district.
In addition, he worked to strengthen the relationship of the local precinct with the community. This included successfully calling for additional officers on the streets, and also for community affairs officers who understood and spoke the languages of the residents of the district. In instances where NCO or CAU officers were unable to communicate with the constituents, his office provides translation services to bridge the communication gap.
Councilman Koo has also received endorsement from New York City Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association (PBA) on August 10.

Stavisky Stumps For Koo

During the weekend of August 19-20, NYS Senator Toby Ann Stavisky actively campaigned for Councilman Peter Koo in the Mitchell Linden area, which she previously represented for years. The Senator has endorsed Councilman Koo for reelection in February. Stavisky stated, “Councilman Koo has been a dedicated and effective representative, someone whom the people of Queens can count on. He embodies the American Dream, having immigrated here in the ‘70s to attend college. He became the owner of a small business, a pharmacy, and president of the Flushing Chinese Business Association before ultimately running for elected office. He knows the issues small business owners and immigrants face because he has faced them himself. The Councilman in constantly in his district, so much so that his constituents respectfully and lovingly refer to him as the Mayor of Flushing. I am proud to call Peter Koo both a colleague and a friend and enthusiastically endorse his campaign for reelection.”

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo Endorses Council Member Vallone for Re-election

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo endorsed Council Member Paul Vallone for re-election to the 19th Council District. As a native of Queens, and most recently Douglaston, Governor Cuomo understands the needs and issues that are important to the middle class in Northeast Queens and believes Council Member Vallone is best suited to continue fighting for them.
"The families of northeast Queens deserve a Council Member they can be proud of and one who can be counted on to represent their values, keep delivering their fair share and lead by example. Council Member Paul Vallone has led the fight to increase programming for our senior population and his ability to successfully advocate for his constituents has resulted in countless improvements for our public safety, parks and schools,” said Governor Andrew M. Cuomo.  “There is no question that he is the right choice for Council Member. With four more years Paul Vallone will continue to unite Northeast Queens, and I’m proud to endorse his candidacy in the district I used to call home."

"From upgrading our infrastructure by implementing cashless tolling to providing free college tuition for our middle class families, Governor Cuomo has a proven record of preserving, protecting and increasing our quality of life,” said Council Member Paul Vallone. “My father, City Council Speaker Peter F. Vallone worked closely with the late Governor Mario Cuomo and I look forward to continuing that tradition with Governor Andrew M. Cuomo.”
