Surrounded by family and friends, Congresswoman Grace Meng presented an American flag flown over the Capitol to 103-year-old World War II veteran Henry Bloch (fourth from l.) of Fresh Meadows. U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) presented World War II veteran and Fresh Meadows resident Henry Bloch with an American flag that she arranged to have flown over the U.S. Capitol in his honor. Earlier this year, Bloch turned 103 years old.

Bloch served as an American intelligence officer, and was a Ritchie Boy during the war. France awarded him with the Legion of Honor medal this past May.

“It was an honor to pay tribute to Henry and I thank him for his service and sacrifice to our country,” said Meng. “He is a true American patriot.”

Meng presented the flag at Henry Bloch's home in Fresh Meadows.
