Hunt Driver In Near Fatal LIC Hit-Run

Police are asking for help from the public to locate a man who slammed his Mercedes sedan into a bicyclist in Long Island City on August 17 – and then fled the scene.

Cops said the driver was speeding westbound on 36th Avenue at about 10:45 p.m. on August 17, when he slammed into 59-year-old Lorenzo Anderson as the local resident was pedaling to his nearby home.
The driver turned left at 11th Street where he ditched the car and fled in an unknown direction, leaving his passenger behind. The passenger remained in the car and was taken into police custody for questioning, but no charges were filed, an NYPD spokesperson said.
Anderson was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens where he was listed in critical condition.
